Adopt a Trail - Idaho Nordic Work Evening
Posted on March 18th, 2008
March 31, 2008 - 5:45 pm to 8:45 pm
We are scheduled to do our trail maintenance on Monday, March 31st (this will not interfere with March Madness), at 5:45 PM. Expect a 2-3 hours time commitment.
We will be meeting Bart with Ridge to Rivers at the Shanes Loop Trail Head on Rocky Canyon Rd. He will be driving up the rig with all the equipment necessary to complete the trail maintenance. There is no need to bring any tools, just water, gloves, and hiking or work boots.
If it is raining Ridge to Rivers will decide by 3 PM on whether we can still work on the trail or re-schedule. If rescheduled we will post on the website.
We are looking for between 10 and 15 people. Email info@idahonordic.com if you would like to volunteer.
Carpoolers will meet at Fort Boise(where we do dry-land) at 5:30pm.

March 7, 2008 -
Idaho Nordic Members – We will be posting any pertinent information next week and the week of the races on the Idaho Nordic website.
We had about 20 racers show up the clinic at World Ski and Cycle. The theme of the clinic was “Be Prepared and Self-Sufficient”. At this point, we are planning on having an Idaho Nordic waxing tent. Just look for the Idaho Nordic banners and USA flags. (On the last day look for the empty PBR cans and grilling bratwurst.)
Below is the checklist that was handed out at the clinic along with some other info. Please review it and if you do not have something on the list - GET IT. You all have trained, (driven to Bogus), and made the effort to sign-up for Worlds. Don’t blow your races because you were too cheap to buy a stick of BD8 or whatever you are missing.
Joe and Eric will testing on the Ponderosa trails Saturday, February 23rd. Once we have preliminary info on the conditions, terrain etc.. we will post the information. The start times are posted on the mwc2008 website for each age group. There are 29 Idaho Nordic racers signed up and ready to take on the WORLD!

Swix Race Service Report - West Yellowstone Rendezvous
Posted on February 22nd, 2008
February 23, 2008 -
Rendezvous Ski Trails, West Yellowstone MT
Saturday, February 23, 2008
9:15am Start
www.rendezvousrace.com
Forecast: Friday Night: 40-50% chance snow with a low around 14F. Saturday: A 40% chance of snow, mostly cloudy with a high near 32F.
Ski Selection: Medium flex ski with fine structure
Base Preparation: Clean skis with Swix Base Prep 99. Scrape and brush using Swix Fine Steel brush (T0192). Apply two layers of Swix MB77 base conditioning wax. Scrape and brush with Swix Fine Steel brush (T0192).
Base Structure: Linear structure, applied with the Swix Super Riller (T401), -apply the .25mm rill if needed.
Glide Wax:
Race Wax: Apply 1 layer of Swix HF7BD. Scrape and brush with Swix Fine Steel Brush (T0192). Apply Swix FC07 Cera F Powder. With iron set at 155C, take one 5-7 second pass. Let cool 20 minutes. Brush up powder using Swix Black Nylon Brush (T0160). Iron second time and let cool 20 minutes. Brush out with Wild Boar Brush (t0164) and finish polish with Blue Nylon (T0160).
Kick Wax:
Base Kick Wax: sand kick zone with 100 grit, apply layer of Swix VG35 base, iron in. Let cool. Apply two layers of Swix V40 Blue extra. Cork smooth between layers.
Race Kick Wax: most likely Swix VR40, VR45 or VR50. Apply 6-8 thin layers.
Notes: For racers on a tighter budget, LF7 or straight HF7 are great glide wax options. If a more economical Cera F is desired, FC01 solid is a fast option. FC01 should be applied by rubbing on one layer, corking lightly, rubbing on a second layer, ironing with one pass at 145, corking, and then allowing to cool 20 minutes and brushing the same as FC07 (see above).
There are fantastic wax tips and more detailed instructions posted online at www.swixracing.us that have been written for the American Birkie, but apply equally well to the Rendezvous. Good luck everyone and thanks to all the folks in West Yellowstone for hosting a fantastic event.
