Biathlete Sara Studebaker

Last night, Idaho Nordic was fortunate to have Sara Studebaker join us. Sara is a Boise native and has a great chance of making the Vancouver Olympics in biathlon. Sara currently lives in Lake Placid, New York.
Sara just spent three weeks at Soldier Hollow at a national team camp and came home to relax before she hits the World Cup circuit. She will be competing in Oestersund, Sweden the first week of December. We will try to post her results on IN and you can follow her on her blog at:

Bogus Basin Nordic Trail Work Day

BBNT has organized a trail work day on October 31 to ensure the primary race course trails are brush free and smooth- the idea is to make the course race ready even if we only have a little snow. The course is Sappers, the Highway, and Redtail.
The plan is to meet at Bogus Basin office October 31st at 8:30a.m. and car pool to Bogus. We expect to be heading back down the hill between 3:00 and 4:00p.m. If you can stay for only part of the day, your help will still be greatly appreciated. At Bogus, we’ll split up into teams and work on the different parts of the trails that need attention. A hot lunch will be provided by BBNT! Please RSVP to James Hanson at jamesjhanson@hotmail.com so we have enough lunch for everyone.
We are also in need of tools for this project. Please bring shovels, hoes, pruning saws, pruning tools and work gloves. If you can’t make the trip to Bogus but have tools and would like to loan them for the day please let James know and he will arrange to pick them up.
Temperatures at Bogus are predicted to range from 36 to 44 degrees on Saturday with partly sunny skies and gusty winds.

SkiErg World Sprints

At Fort Boise Community Center and at other satellite locations across the world, participants will compete in a 1000 meter race. Time will be ranked online at concept2.com.
Racing action starts at 10:00am and continues to 12:30pm.
Entry $5.00
Email info@idahonordic.com if you are racing to reserve a time slot. Racers without reservations are not guaranteed to be able to race.
Start order will be posted on idahonordic.com on the Friday beforehand.

7th Annual Idaho Nordic Gear Sale

On Saturday, October 24th, 2009 the 7th Annual Idaho Nordic Sale will take place at the future home of World Cycle & XC Ski (1407 W State St, Boise; the old Schuck’s building). The Used Gear Sale will provide an excellent opportunity to buy or sell quality used cross country ski equipment. Open to the public.
Used Gear Sale (Cross Country/Telemark Gear Only, no downhill equipment please)
- Gear check-in from 10am to 11:30am
- Gear Sale from 11am to 1pm
- Unsold gear pick-up from 1:30pm to 2:30pm (all unclaimed gear will be donated to local ski programs).
- A 20% commission on sold items will benefit local junior nordic programs and Idaho Nordic.

Team Fischer - Idaho Nordic Members Rollerski Clinics

Elite skiers of Team Fischer, Colin Rodgers and Nicole DeYong, will lead two FREE training sessions for all Idaho Nordic Members. Not a member? Sign up Online.
Schedule:
Friday, 5:45pm – Rollerski Skate Technique Session
Colin and Nicole will break down technique for all abilities and give personal pointers.
Saturday, 8:00am – Rollerski Technique Session
Continuation of technique work.
Location for both sessions: Lucky 13 on Warm Springs.
Helmets Required!
Participants must bring their own rollerski equipment. Please make sure it is in good working order.
Also try to rollerski a few times before the clinic. Please spare us the pain of watching you stumble around trying to remember how to rollerski.
