Ullr Results

A few of the Idaho Nordicans ventured to Logan for the infamous Ullr.?Ǭ† They have always done things a little differently in Utah but?Ǭ†we did find beer and a good italian meal with opera music?Ǭ†the night before the race.?Ǭ† Also we learned that they do not provide bathrooms at the start area.?Ǭ† We debated to use our socks as a wiper or not to wipe at all.?Ǭ†?Ǭ†Blistered feet or chafed underside????Ǭ†?Ǭ†Fortunately?Ǭ†I have?Ǭ†small children and had a stash of baby wipes in?Ǭ†my ski bag.?Ǭ† (I think we repaid the snowmobilers everytime they have run us off trails - 100 pre-race purges scattered?Ǭ†in their parking lot.?Ǭ† Nasty!)
The race consisted of 2,200 feet of steady climbing in about 10km?Ǭ†and then?Ǭ†a?Ǭ†slow?Ǭ†decent with some obstacles -?Ǭ†moguls, fog, knee deep powder and snowmobilers that wanted to play chicken.?Ǭ† Daryl Hegerle summoned his previous life spirit as a billy-goat and destroyed the field at about 10km into the race and reduced the lead pack to five skiers.?Ǭ†?Ǭ†Elite skiers Ian Harvey, Jason Travis and Paul Clark made numerous attacks trying to shake Daryl and the short fat dude in the back (Joe Jensen).?Ǭ† When it was all over Jason Travis soloed to a win with Ian Harvey(Toko) and Joe Jensen(Swix Tech Team)?Ǭ†close behind.
Other Notables:
Daryl Hegerle finished 5th overall and won the 40 year old age groupers
Carl Hoerger and Mike Weber held hands across the finish line.
Philthy O’Bryan?Ǭ†survived and then caught a flight to Vegas.?Ǭ† He needed to do some sinnin’.
Ralph Comstock and Raliegh Jensen were the elder statesmen to keep us on track.
